contact.w96011@wales.nhs.uk 01654 702 224Our GPs provide the medical cover for the 14 inpatient beds at the community hospital in Machynlleth. This allows patients who do not need the higher level of input offered at District General Hospitals to be cared for closer to their families.
We are in exciting discussions with both Welsh Assembly Government and Powys Teaching Health Board about the development of the community hospital. A flagship Wellbeing Centre could be underway in early 2018. We hope to integrate local GP services with mental health, social services and women’s and children’s services. It would also house consultant outpatient clinics, physiotherapy and X Ray facilities.
We are especially keen to create a centre for the teaching of rural medicine. Students and trainees would come from across Wales to learn about this unique and challenging speciality.
